Trailblazing pop duo Lucky Iris have returned with their new single, ‘play me like a speaker’. The track is a bold expansion of the Lucky Iris sonic universe, and the maximalism doesn’t hold back. There’s a pounding hyper-pop pulse sitting beneath the distorted blare of synths, but an eerie calm to the vocal lines that sit on top. The glitchy instrumental sections are disconcerting, but the track’s relentless nature ensures that the sense of fun is never lost. They say this cut “was used as an exploration into seeing what we can create and very literally leaning into that. We wrote almost every track on the mixtape on the South West coast of Ireland, using only a laptop, a mic, and a twenty-five key mini keyboard with a wireless speaker. ‘play me like a speaker’ was one of the first tracks we created for this mixtape - maybe that’s ironic - but we were having fun, creating new sounds and making music we wanted to hear.” The new mixtape, fall in love with the dj, drops on January 23rd, 2026, via EMI North Records. -Dan Peeke
